As the lead product designer on Espace sur Demande, I’ve been involved from the earliest stages of the platform’s conception, working hand in hand with developers, product managers, public stakeholders, and policy teams to build a digital service that bridges the gap between local governments and citizens.
The goal of the platform is to enable municipalities and public institutions to easily list and manage their available spaces (like meeting rooms, sports halls, cultural venues), while allowing individuals, associations, and companies to search for and request bookings — all within a few clicks. Beyond its technical function, the platform aims to promote better usage of public infrastructure, foster local collaboration, and simplify administrative processes.
My work started with a discovery phase, during which I led user research to better understand the needs of both the supply side (local governments and institutions) and the demand side (citizens, professionals, and associations). I conducted interviews, shadowed users, mapped user journeys, and synthesized pain points. These insights informed the early product strategy and shaped the first prototypes.
I then designed the complete interface for both the public-facing booking flow and the internal dashboard used by municipal staff. I created wireframes, interactive prototypes, and refined high-fidelity designs for both desktop and mobile, always keeping accessibility and clarity at the core.
A large part of my work also involved co-building a custom design system tailored to the public sector — fully responsive, modular, and accessible (WCAG-compliant). This system is aligned with the French State Design System, and helps ensure long-term maintainability, scalability, and consistency across future evolutions of the platform.
I also collaborated closely with the development team throughout the build phase, ensuring smooth handoff, pixel-perfect integration, and continuous iteration based on user feedback and testing. I regularly ran design reviews, clarified edge cases, and contributed to product decision-making.
Today, Espace sur Demande is being deployed across multiple territories in France and continues to evolve. I’m proud to have helped build a platform that not only solves a practical administrative challenge, but also contributes to making public services more transparent, usable, and citizen-friendly.
